Field Trip
This morning I went with my Canadian Jewish history class on a field trip to the Beth Tzedec synagogue. We attended an exhibition on the history of the Jewish garment industry in Toronto. We were led through the exhibit by an upbeat lady named Laura, who told us many anecdotes about her family's garment manufacturing company. She conveyed the pride that her family took in their work.
Back downtown, I felt the history of the city. We passed Dupont St., which had once been called Royce. Turning onto Bloor from Bathurst, I had a sense of the impermanence of history, and that the moment that I was living in was a part of this history.
